Edwards Air Force Base

Information
Summary:

Edwards AFB is home to the Air Force Flight Test Center, the 412th Test Wing of the US Air Force Test Pilot School, NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center, and the base itself is operated and maintained by the 95th Air Base Wing of Air Force Materials Command. Edwards AFB has been the location of many aviation breakthroughs, such as Chuck Yeager breaking the sound barrier in the Bell X-1, the first landing of the Space Shuttle, and the around the world flight of the Rutan Voyager. In addition, many aircraft currently in service have been tested (at least in part) at Edwards.
