Summary: 

Eielson AFB is home to the 354th Fighter Wing, assigned to the Pacific Air Force's Eleventh Air Force. While Eielson used to be a front-line base, the primary mission of the base now is supporting Red Flag Alaska; a directed field training exercises for U.S. Forces, which provides joint offensive counter-air, interdiction, close-air support, and large force employment training in a simulated combat environment.
